Use Blogging Directories!

Posted by allinone | Tags: , , | Categories: Uncategorized | No Comments

If you want to have more people visit your blog, there are plenty of blog directories on the Internet that you can submit your blog to so that people will come and visit it. Most blog directories are listed by the topics that the blogs that are submited cover.

Blog Catalog is a free blog directory that offers categories such as career and jobs, writing, Iraq, and many others. It has features such as featured blogs and other things to offer those who submit their blogs there.

Another fantastic place to add your blog is blog-directory.org. Not only do they have an an extensive list of categories with sub categories, you can get your blog reviewed. For the most well loved blogs, it shows the amount of hits that blogs have and if they have any reviews. As well as listing by category, the blogs are also listed by place.

There are other blog directories on the Internet – these are only a ouple of them. But blog directories are a fantastic place to make known your blog and to make new friends. You never know what you will find when you browsing through the directory, and you may just find out in rank that you never knew. Some of the blog directories offer chat features as well, so that you can meet other people easily.

As you can see, blog directories are a fantastic place to get your blog noticed and bring people to read your blog and look at your pictures.

Challenges With Your Blog

Posted by allinone | Tags: , , , | Categories: Blogs, Uncategorized | No Comments

Having a blog has been described as fun, meaningful, productive to business, as a way to vent your feelings, and many many other things.  But along with all the good things about having a blog, just like anything else it does have its challenges.  Probably the first and biggest challenge is deciding what to write or what kind of content to have.  The blog is good for you to write as we said previously, but for the reader the point is to make them interested so that they will keep coming back and keep reading every time you make a post.  So you should be writing about something that interests you so that you will keep wanting to write, but at the same time it needs to maintain readership so it must also be something that your audience likes.  ;-)

The second challenge is deciding how often to update your page.  Should you write a new post every day, every other day, once a week etc.  You really need to pay attention to this because people get used to patterns.  If you write a post daily then all of the sudden you don’t post a new entry for a week, all the readers that come and check the page daily are going to be all thrown off.  And if they don’t see something new after checking so many days you just may lose that reader alltogether.  This is defeating your purpose.  If you establish a pattern then stick to it.  Then your readers will know what to expect and you will not have to keep them guessing…or make them decide not come back!

Your third challenge finding new and exciting content.  If your blog is going to be providing information to your readers about a particular subject, or niche, then information is constantly changing and being updated.  You are going to have to stay on top of the latest information so you can provide that to your readers.  This can also affect the second challenge we mentioned which was how often to post.  Depending on the area you are covering this can fluctuate.  If you are blogging about computers and technology then you will find yourself posting often because the tech world is constantly changing by the hour, if not the minute!  You want to be the expert source for your readers so they do not have to go anywhere else to get information.  They always know your page has the hottest and most current information.

Lastly, it can be a challenge to keep your blog interesting.  If you are covering the same topic every time you post, even if it is new information it can seem a little redundant sometimes.  In order to avoid this problem make sure you keep a variety of techniques on hand.  Try a little light comedy or humor mixed in your post.  Maybe find a “big name” in the business and post a witty quote from him or her.  Or offer a bit of trivia from your niche and get your readers thinking.  These are just a few quick examples but you get the idea.  Covering the same topic can still be very interesting as long as you use a little creativity.

Obviously, there are a lot more challenges out there but this was just to name a few.  If you have questions about blogging or troubleshooting your challenges, drop a note and we will see what we can do!

Until next time…happy blogging.

6 Tips to Make Your Blog Interesting!

Posted by allinone | Tags: , , | Categories: Blogs | No Comments

Every blog is created differently.  Many are classy and express a person’s individuality.
It is usually most interesting to read blogs that are more like that.  People who take the
time to express themselves always offer something new or offer a new way in which to
view something you might already know.  It is not so much about how well a person can
write grammatically as it is how well a person can capture and maintain the interest of
readers through showing a personal passion for a topic.  If you have a subject about
which you are passionate, you may be the perfect person to create your own successful
blog.

While using search engine optimization to help potential readers find your blog is
important, it is equally important that you make your blog readable once they arrive at
your site.  How can you ensure that your blog will be successful?

Consider the following six tips.

1.  First of all, find your niche.

Most people have an area in which they are extremely
knowledgeable, if not experts.  Choose something that you are both knowledgeable of
and interested in.  This will help you to stay focused and current with your postings.

2.  Next, take the time to let your readers know who you are.

This does not mean you need to post all of your personal information, but you need to let readers know where you are
coming from in your writing.  A memorable name alone is not enough to maintain a solid
readership.  Instead you must prove yourself as a reliable source.

3.  Determine what style you will use.  After you have decided what your blog topic will and how to                                                                                                                                               introduce yourself to the blog-reading world, you need to .  Are you going to use
your blog as a board for story-telling?  Do you want to establish yourself as a serious
writer seeking to educate readers on a particular topic?  Or do you want a fresh place to
state your personal views in a casual daily forum?  Few people are able to mix more than
one style of blog.  If readers like your blog written in a certain way, they expect to see a
similarly posted entry the next time they visit.

4.  Focus on saying something that is valuable.  In deciding the style of your blog, you also need to really                                                                                                                                        Sure, you could post a daily blog that was no more than an account of
everything you did on that day.  But how many readers want to come back to a blog like
that?  To make readers interested in what you have to say, you have to say something
important or take a fresh approach to an old story.  Make your posting worth something
to someone.

5.  Take care to write regularly.  After you start your blog,   Many new blogs are started every
single day, but few make it after a few weeks.  This can happen because writers were not
ready for the responsibility of having a blog and did not prepare adequately for it.  If you
plan to make your blog a long term thing, you need to write regularly.  While it is best to
write something daily, you can alternate or do two or three days a week.  Remember that
you need to show readers that you offer new content often and also help your blog to
show up in search engine rankings as well.

6.  Use links to your advantage.  There is nothing wrong with including a link to
another person’s webpage or a story if it adds relevance and reliability to your posting.
This helps your readers to actually gain a greater trust in you.  Also link back to your own
previous postings if they relate to your current topic.  Finally, include your link in all
email signatures and forum signatures where applicable.

If you take the time to prepare before jumping into a new blog, you are sure to be a
success.  Contrary to what many believe, it is not something you can do overnight.  It
takes work, but the benefits are worth the wait!

3 Mistakes That Can Drive Away Subscribers

Posted by allinone | Tags: , | Categories: Uncategorized | No Comments

They always say that the money is in the list.  Well that is true.  So one would want to take every precaution not to cause someone to unsubscribe from their list.  If someone is no longer on your list, that is potential money out the window!  In my personal experience there are a few things I have come across that irritate me as a subscriber.  I am sharing them you so that you can avoid making the same mistakes with your lists.

1.  Broken Links

Have you ever been checking your emails and you come across one that sounds really good.  Then you get to the bottom, click on the link and…NOTHING?  You just clicked on a broken link.  Now what do you do?  In most cases there is nothing you can do.  If this happens enough times you can lose people from your list because of their frustration.  Do not develop a reputation for not providing quality link and emails.  This one doesn’t take rocket science people.  If you are going to send out an email that contains a link, check it and test it.  Don’t build up your readers to a link that they are going to click on and get nowhere.  This just looks bad and makes the reader feel like they wasted their time.  Most importantly they now question your credibility.

2.  Multiple Windows

Ever opened an email and you click on a video to watch it and you get not one, not two, but three or four windows opening and they are all talking at once and you can’t even hear a thing?  I don’t know if the thought is that you will be more likely to listen if you have more than one window.  This can be very irritating because you are trying to listen but you can’t even hear it.  You cannot make someone listen to your video.  If they have clicked then it means they wanted to.  No need to have all these windows opening.  They subscriber may just get annoyed and close the window and move onto the next email, possibly even opt out of your list to avoid such things in the future.

3.  Making your Pages User Friendly

I follow the “gurus” like everyone else.  I get their emails about when they will be releasing new software or products.  Some of them send emails weeks and months in advance to build up that product or service and to let you know when it is going to launch.  Sometimes I am interested in what they have going.  In fact just recently I had one of them that I actually wanted to purchase a product from.  I won’t name who because I am not trying to bring anyone down here.  My purpose in telling you this is to make sure you don’t make the same mistake.   So what happened was I had signed up early and was, therefore, going to be part of the “pre-launch.”  This meant that in addition to getting the product which I wanted, I was also going to get the bonuses that were being offered.  Sounds great.  So what happened?  Every time I got an email to purchase there was nowhere to click for purchase!  Well this is a disaster people!  Not just for me because I can’t get my product, but for them because they aren’t getting their money.  When you have built up an audience for something and they can’t get it, chances are the same thing will happen with them as happened with me – after multiple attempts they will just get frustrated and move on.

Now the bigger question is – did this situation just cause the loss of a sale on this product or did it leave a bad enough taste in the customer’s mouth that they won’t trust you anymore or consider your offers in the future.  For some people it’smlike that.  One chance, you blow it and the customer is gone.  Customers are your lifeline and if no one is buy that means you aren’t selling.  And if you aren’t selling that means you aren’t making any money.

If there was an unforseen technical problem and the product owner announced it and fixed it.  They could have made up for it by honoring the offer and maybe even a small gift of some sort because of the inconvenience then I could understand.  BUT to this day I never saw a reply to my emails regarding the issue and that was almost three months ago.  So what do you think?  If you think I am done with this “guru” then you are right.  Just because someone is considered a guru doesn’t mean they can let these types of things happen and it’s okay.  Every customer is valuable and great service is key!

Okay, so these are three big issues I know that can hurt your online business.  Wo when you are running your site and emailing product offers etc to your list double, triple, and even quadruple check your links to make sure they are working properly.  If you are launching a new product make sure your sales pages, shopping carts and such are all user friendly and working seamlessly.  Providing good service is important in making sure your customers will buy from you again.  If there experience is not a good one, it makes it that much more likely that they will not be buying from you again.

Take care and happy marketing!

Elena

How To Make Your Blog Appealing

Posted by allinone | Tags: , | Categories: Blogs | No Comments

Your blog is a very powerful tool that can help you express yourself to
the world.  You gradually build up a relationship with those people who read your blog.
While your blog may already be effective, there are a few things you cna do to ensure
that both you and your readers continue to enjoy your blog.

First of all, post often and on time.  If you post a blog called “Monday Musings”, readers
will expect to see new posts on Monday, especially if you start out that way.  Your blog
is similar to a newsletter and it is important to be consistent with it.  This will help
increase the number of people who visit your site and return for a repeat viewing.  When
readers are interested and come back frequently, you are able to eventually build up a
relationship with those regular readers.

Secondly, it is ok to use information from other sources, but be sure to give appropriate
credit to those sources.  You may want to comment on a news story you found or a
particular website that you found of interest.  Just be sure to provide the source
information and a link at the end of your post, if available.

Next, remember that your blog is a great place to give props to other bloggers.  You can
highlight featured bloggers and provide a link for your readers to check out that blog.
This gives you the opportunity to network with other bloggers and offer your readers a
complete experience by providing additional good information to them.

In addition, it is essential that you take care in setting your blog up so that it is easy to
read and easy to navigate.  Readers often want to be able to find past postings and want to
see how you organize your thoughts.  You can list past postings by placing them down
the side of your page or by placing links to them in current blogs to which they relate.

It is also helpful to separate your postings into topics if this makes sense for your blog.  It
makes it easier for readers to find several posts on a particular topic and will not tie them
down.  Making information easily accessible is a great way to ensure ease for readers and
make them come back again and again.  Having a search function available is another
way to gain repeat readers.

Arrange postings so that the more recent ones appear the the top of your page or on the
first page of your site.  This allows readers to quickly see the topic(s) for that day and
showcase your newest postings first.

Besides just the layout of your blog, it is important to include relevant and accurate
content.  Double check anything that you are not sure of and only post what you know to
be true without a disclaimer.  Being honest and printing only the truth will help to enforce
the validity and credibility of your blog.

On the same token, respect the privacy of others.  Never rent or sell the email addresses
of your readers to other sources.  If a third party wants to be promoted to your group of
readers, you should be the one to promote it via your blog and not by discrespecting the
privacy of others, which they have entrusted to you.  In addition, do not use names of
individuals in your postings unless you have received their permission first.  When it
comes to businesses, take care to only post if appropriate.

Finally, you have to make readers want to come back to read your blog again.  Readers
want personality and human emotion to be evident in what they read, so find ways to
connect yourself to the readers.

Blogging can be fun and rewarding, as long as you put forth the effort to make it so.  It is
a flexible hobby or business, but you should always follow the basic rules to ensure that
visitors are always amazed at the freshness of your blogs.  Research additional techniques
that other great blogs use, and come up with your own tactics to make your blog the best!

Creating a Successful Blog

Posted by allinone | Tags: , , , , , , | Categories: Blogs | No Comments

It is almost a necessity for an online business owner to have a blog these days.  There are
all types of blogs out there:  informative blogs, personal blogs, and marketing jobs, to
name a few.  Now businesses have to compete using these blogs to receive a higher
ranking in the search engines.

notepadIn order to have a successful blog, you will need to insure that it is well-written.  You will
also have to check to make sure it is designed well and that you can update it frequently
and regularly.  You need to take the time to research and know your audience before you
start so you can be sure to target them appropriately.

But what if you are not trying to start a blog for business purposes?  How can you create
a blog that is successful if you just want to have a blog?  There are some tips you can
apply to help insure that your blog will do well.

First of all, select your topic.  Since you aren’t using your blog for marketing your
product, you can write about anything that appeals to you.  You can use a blog as your
own personal online journal or you can use it as your forum to comment on the news.
Just be sure to choose something you are passionate about, something that you know
well, and something that will allow you a chance to show the world the real you with all
your talents, knowledge, and ideas.

Secondly, write your blog as if you were conversing with a friend.  Make your writing
conversational and free from a lot of technical jargon, unless you are directing it only
towards a very specific readership.  Post frequently because having more content on your
blog will help more people to find it through search engines.

Use your blog to get your opinions out to the world.  You are not moderated and you are
free to express yourself in whatever way you choose.  However, do not use your blog to
insult people or try to damage businesses or organizations.  Be wise in the decisions you
make regarding your blog usage.  Remember that you are influencing people’s views and
they will be evaluating your credibility.  If you are offensive, you may lose readership.

Finally, take time to promote your blog.  Don’t be afraid to keep the URL for your blog
in the signature line of your emails.  You never know when an email might cross the path
of someone who might be interested in what you have to say.  If you publish a newsletter,
be sure to promote it there as well.  Finally, you can join blog directories and post the link
there or join forums related to your topic and share your link with others.

If you do consider using a blog for business purposes, realize that it needs frequent
updating and good, solid content.  Some people consider paying someone to maintain the
content aspect of the blog once it has been created.  Many people make extra money
serving as content writers and prove to be beneficial to blog owners.
